Google Search Console Glitch: Why Clicks and Impressions Showed Zero

On October 28, 2024, Almost all webmasters were surprised to find their Google Search Console showing zero clicks and impressions. This sudden drop caused worry among Digital Marketers, who thought if their site traffic had been impacted. 

However, Google quickly confirmed that it was a glitch, not an issue with Google update or with individual websites. The bug caused Search Console to show only today’s data by default, leading to low metrics. Why This Happened

The sudden drop to zero clicks and impressions in Google Search Console reports was caused by a glitch that displayed only the current day’s data by default. Since daily data is updated gradually throughout the day. 

It is common for early numbers to look low, especially in the morning. Usually, Google shows data up to the previous day, so this unexpected shift worried many site owners and SEOs. Google has confirmed this is a bug and not a permanent change, and they are already working to correct the issue so data reports return to normal.

Google’s Response and Next Steps

Google’s Search Analyst, John Mueller, quickly acknowledged the issue and reassured users that Google’s team is actively working on it. Adding some humor, he joked, “This wasn’t meant to replace your traditional morning wake-up beverage.” 

By 1 pm ET, Google had adjusted the reports to show the usual data timeline which should resolve the zero clicks and impressions issue, so the charts should no longer give you a heart attack. If some users still see low data. Google is handling it, and everything should return to normal soon. The bug did not affect website traffic. So rest assured that your site’s performance remains unaffected.

There is no need to worry or take any quick action on your end. This was issued on Google’s side and does not affect your website’s organic traffic or search rankings. Google has confirmed this was just a display glitch, so if you are still seeing low numbers, you can rest assured that your usual data will show up soon.
